Synopsis

Grace just moved to San Francisco and is excited to start over at a new school. The change is full of fresh possibilities, but it’s also a tiny bit scary. It gets scarier when a minotaur walks in the door. And even more shocking when a girl who looks just like her shows up to fight the monster.

Gretchen is tired of monsters pulling her out into the wee hours, especially on a school night, but what can she do? Sending the minotaur back to his bleak home is just another notch on her combat belt. She never expected to run into this girl who could be her double, though.

Greer has her life pretty well put together, thank you very much. But that all tilts sideways when two girls who look eerily like her appear on her doorstep and claim they're triplets, supernatural descendants of some hideous creature from Greek myth, destined to spend their lives hunting monsters.

These three teenage descendants of Medusa, the once-beautiful gorgon maligned by myth, must reunite and embrace their fates in this unique paranormal world where monsters lurk in plain sight.

My 2 cents

I am a sucker for books with mythology, especially Greek Mythology!  This was a fun read, and I really loved it!  The book switches between the triplet's POV.  Gretchen is a kick butt type of girl, who has been trained in being a huntress.  San Francisco is the doorway between The Abyss and our world.  No one else can see the monsters because of glamour.  The huntresses have a set of retractable fangs with venom that send the monsters back to the abyss when the huntresses bite them.  The title of the story refers to this venom; it takes sweet to the girls to help with the nasty monster taste.

Grace just moved to San Fransisco.  She is a computer geek who was accepted into a top notch school there.  She has no idea of their destiny, and has never seen a monster until she moves to the city where they roam free!  Grace has the most normal life of the three girls.  

Greer is a rich princess, with absent parents and social standing in the country club set.  Her parents have paid for a hypnotist over the years to "cure" her of seeing monsters.  She hasn't seen any for years.  That changes when all three girls meet up, and learn about their destiny.  A war is coming, and they are central to it.

I loved all 3 girls.  I didn't even have to look at the name between each chapter, I could tell each one apart easily from their "voice."  I loved the whole "daughters of Medusa" thing, and all the mythology and mythical creatures thrown into the story.  There is suspense and danger at every turn, and they have no idea  who they can trust.  People they know that are supposed to be helping them keep disappearing.  

This was a fun, easy read with lots of action and adventure.  And, I was relieved that there doesn't seem to be any love triangles in this one! There are moments of romance, but its not a huge part of the plot. I'm excited to read the rest of the series!
