Top Ten Tuesday #3
Top Ten Tuesday is put on by Broke and Bookish. It was created because they are fond of lists, and we love to share!
Today's Top Ten List: Books to read in one day!
I'm really excited about this list, because I end up doing this a lot! Here's my top ten!
10. The Lorien Legacies by Pittacus Lore
These books are about an alien race that's planet was destroyed by an another evil alien race. 9 kids with special abilities are all that is left of the Loriens, and they are hiding out on Earth. They have been numbered 1-9, and can only be killed in order. The evil Alien race is still looking for them on Earth to wipe them out. These are really good books! The next in the series, The Rise of Nine comes out in August.
9. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
I just finished it this weekend, and can't wait to read Pandemonium! This is a dytopian society where they have classified love as a diseases; and when citizens turn 18 they under go laser surgery to the brain to "cure" them. The whole thing is just insane, but a page turner!
8. Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins
Book One: Hex Hall
Book Two: Demonglass
Book Three: Spell bound
These books are about a young witch named Sophie Meyer attending a magical boarding school with all sorts of fairy tale creatures. There are plenty of mysteries in this series, plot twist, and romance; they are really hard to put down!
7. The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
Book One: City of Bones
Book Two: City of Ashes
Book Three: City of Glass
Book Four: City of Fallen Angels
Book Five: City of Lost Souls--coming in May!
This book is about Clary, and her life after she encounters the Shadowhunters: Warriors who are dedicated to ridding the world of demons. Shadowhunters are part angel which gives them special abilities to fight with. This series is amazing. The characters are fantastic! Its so easy to get lost in this imaginary world Clare has created!
6. Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth
Book One: Divergent
Book Two: Insurgent--coming in May!
This is set in the future in Chicago. Society has been divided into 5 factions: Abnegation the Selfless; Dauntless the Brave; Erudite the Intelligent; Amity the Peaceful; and Candor the Honest. Children are raised with their parents, but at 16 they go through confidential testing which tells them where they would most fit in. Beatrice takes the test and finds out she is Divergent--she doesn't fit in with any one group, there are several she could choose. (This is a hush, hush secret to keep if she doesn't want to be kicked out of society). Raised Abnegation, she chooses Dauntless at her ceremony, and there is no going back!
5. The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare
Book One: Clockwork Angel
Book Two: The Clockwork Prince
This series is a prequel to The Mortal Instruments. So same type of world;; except it takes place in Victorian London! Love this series even more--the characters are even better, and I just love the setting!
4. The Body Finder series by Kimberly Derting
Book One: The Body Finder
Book Two: Desires of the Dead
Book Three: The Last Echo--coming this month!
Violet has a sixth sense: she is able to sense "echoes" in animals and people that have died violently. She can't rest until she finds the body, and buries it properly. When she was younger, this only resulted in a small graveyard of small animals--but now after a string of murders in her town, it is resulting in a murder mystery! These books are very suspenseful , and there is a little teen romance going on at the same time.
3. The Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer
Book One: Twilight
Book Two: New Moon
Book Three: Eclipse
Book Four: Breaking Dawn
I started reading book one right before the movie came out. And I couldn't stop, I read all 4 books in a week! New Moon and Eclipse I stayed up really late to finish, and read in one sitting. I just fell in love with the story. I have noticed that these series are love/hate books for most people. You either love them or you hate them.
2. The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Book One: The Hunger Games
Book Two: Catching Fire
Book Three: Mockingjay
I don't even need to explain the synopsis here, right? You all know it from movie publicity! Let me just say these books are violent, sadistic, and horrific; and at the same time, beautiful, heartwarming and hopeful. I believe it shows the best and worst of us. Suzanne Collins is a fantastic writer and she wrote a masterpiece!
1. Harry Potter series by JK Rowling
Book One: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Book Two: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Book Three: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Book Four: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Book Five: Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix
Book Six: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Book Seven: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
These book are masterfully written. The books suck you into a world and don't let you go, even after the last page of the last book. They are considered children's books. But there is a wealth of knowledge between the covers. Universities are teaching classes based just on the books. If you haven't read them, you are missing out on the best books in a generation. Maybe even longer.
Well, that's it, folks! If you haven't read any of the books above, I hope you give them a try! What books would you suggest to read in a day?
Yep I do have some books to read from your list. the lorien books, Delirium, Hex Hall series and the Infernal Devices.

DeleteGreat choices LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HP :D Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome and Thank you! Happy I found another HP fan!
DeleteThis is a great list! The Body Finder and the Twilight books would both make my list of "can't put down, read in one day" books.
ReplyDeleteSome addicting, unputdownable books that I've read recently were The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight (which is a great book to read all at once because it takes place over a 24-hour time period) and The Selection by Kiera Cass.
Divergent is one of the next books I plan on reading--I'm hoping I will love it like everyone else and then can proceed to read Insurgent right after it because that comes out soon.
I haven't read either one of those, but I did pre-order the Selection :)
DeleteI think you named all the books I would have named if I was doing this post. Such a great list. Thanks for sharing! Happy reading!
